Highlands Ranch is a master planned community made of 22,000 acres, just south of Denver. This small town offers its residents the best possible lifestyle available to them in and out of their home. In fact, Highlands Ranch has been voted into the top 20 master planned communities in the entire country! There are currently around 30,000 homes and over 3,000 apartments. Due to advancement in the area and growth as new residents arrive, by 2010 Highlands Ranch is expected to have nearly 40,000 homes and around 90,000 or more residents.
Highlands Ranch was created was simplistic beauty in mind, from the 2,000 acres of untouched open spaces to the numerous parks and the walking trails that wind throughout the neighborhood and offer a great source of exercise and transport. The trails will lead you to public golf courses, the golf club, the canal trail, and the town's recreation center among other beautiful and worthy spots in town.
Highlands Ranch believes in the true importance of children and education. They are proud to use the services of the Douglas County public schools. There are over 15 public schools in the area and there are a few private and religious institutions to choose from, as well. Speaking of religion, Highlands Ranch is proud to offer over 25 churches of varying faiths in the immediate area. This does not include the various churches and beliefs that are right outside the town in other nearby cities.
