"Finding your web site has changed our lives. We were so inspired by this cute little neighborhood that we decided to buy our first home. I recommended your web site to my sister in Dallas, TX who is looking to buy. Hopefully, she will find it just as helpful." -Mickey, Chicago, IL

Medina, Ohio is a half hour west and 40 minutes southwest of Cleveland. The city is the county seat of Medina County boasting a population of close to 30,000. The original city was known as Mecca, when Medina was found in 1818. Since the state of Ohio already had another city of Mecca, the name was changed to Medina. Despite the city being named after a city in Saudi Arabia, most of the first citizens of the area were simple folk, with most of them being employed by their own farms. It wasn't until 1869, when the A.I. Root Company moved into town that Medina became a manufacturing center, primarily producing beehives and equipment for beekeepers.
Despite being farther from Cleveland than Akron, the city is considered a suburb of the larger city, with the majority of its citizens finding a place to work in Cleveland. A.I. Root is still a manufacturer in the city, though it produces candles these days. The city was also proud to have the very first Super Kmart store. Other manufacturers in Medina include Big Time Game Boards and the locally owned, Bil-Jac dog food company.
Education is important to Medina. The Medina High School expansion project is expanding the high school, Medina High, which serves 2,400 students. It's one of the largest in Northeastern Ohio. The downtown restoration has ensured the historic district of Medina, which has been around since the city was incorporated in 1816, remains a vibrant part of the city. Both visitors and citizens enjoy the unique shops, old fashioned restaurants and history that abound throughout Medina.
