In the normal scheme of things, a builder creates a development. In the case of Market Street Homes LLC, however, things worked the other way around.

When Julie, Mark and Trevor Hancock first saw the unique site that would become The Courtyards at Market Street and the Courtyards at Desert Park in North Scottsdale, Arizona, these veterans of the luxury building market in Arizona felt they had to take action.

"The Courtyards at Market Street was the driving force behind creating the company," explains Julie Hancock. "The site is essentially a buffer between Market Street, an upscale shopping and dining complex, and single family housing, all within the DC Ranch. There is no other place that I know of in North Scottsdale where you can live, work, shop and basically do all your activities in the same place."

Aiming to change this fact, the three principals, with more than 35 years of combined experience building luxury homes in the state, began the plans for the attached living community. The goal was to create something that would provide a village-like living experience at an affordable price.
