Jamestown, North Carolina was founded in 1816 by James Mendenhall and his family. Jamestown is well known, as is some of the history about this area. Since the Mendenhall's were Quakers. The Oakdale Cotton Mill, which was used to manufacture weapons for the Civil War, is also still being used today.
